Data file tools are designed to view data in a bin file, view and edit data in a composite file, and create a data extraction file.
A data extraction file is for viewing data in one and multiple, or different types of data sources, and that in a source resulted from joining several data tables, and for performing operations like filtering and sorting. It supports outputting a result set to a composite file (CTX), a bin file (BTX),a text file (TXT) ,a CSV file ,an Excel file (XLSX) or a database file.
A data extraction file has two components: data source and view relations. The data source feeds data to operations and a view relation stores how a data source evolves and how a result view will be handled.
In this chapter, we’ll introduce what a data file tool designer looks like and illustrates how to create a data extraction file with the data file tool.
